＜KASANEの想い＞
日本には、長い歳月をかけ、そしてたくさんの人の手にとおして，育まれ、受け継がれてきた伝統や文化があります。それらの多くは、意識、無意識に関わらず、日々の生活に息づいています。しかしながら、伝統や文化のなかには生活様式の変遷のなかで、日常生活から離れてしまったものが、少なからずあります。私たちは、そういったものと改めて向き合い、いまの視点から見つめ直すことにより、現代のくらしにあった商品を提案していきます。“KASANE”という名前には、伝統や文化、それに携わる人々の想いを今の時代に“かさね”合わせていきたいといった願いを込めています。

＜The aim of the KASANE＞
Japan is home to traditions and customs that have been passed down for genera-tions, many of which remain integral in our daily routines. However, as people's lifestyles have changed over the centuries, some of these are no longer part of our everyday lives. Our mission is to take an-other look at these forgotten traditions from a contemporary perspective and create products that suit our modern way of living. In Japanese, KASANE means 'to layer'. We chose this name because we want to layer the traditions and customs of the past, and the ambitions of those people involved with those traditions and cus-toms, onto the world of today.






＜職人の街・京都のいま＞
古くから文化芸術都市として栄えた街・京都は、今なお数多くの伝統工芸作家、アーティストを輩出し続けています。しかしその一方で、高い評価を受けている作家でさえも、作品販売によって生活を成り立たせることが難しいといった現状があります。それは伝統工芸やアートといったものが、日常の場面から離れた“遠い場所”に置かれているためかもしれません。こうした問題を解決する仕組みをつくり、若手作家を支援したい―。伝統工芸やアートを“特別なもの”から“当たり前のもの”へ還したい―。そういった想いから、KASANEというプロジェクトが誕生しました。


＜Kyoto: A town of master artisans＞
Since ancient times, Kyoto has been a bus-tling center for traditional arts and crafts, and it continues to cultivate a wealth of traditional craftsmen and artists even to-day. Unfortunately, even the most ac-claimed craftsmen find it difficult to make a living just by selling their creations. It seems that traditional arts and crafts have been relegated to a place far removed from our daily lives. We began the KASANE Project as a means to solve this problem while supporting young artists and to return traditional arts and crafts to their rightful place as natural parts of our eve-ryday lives.






＜伝統が日常に還る「出口」をつくる＞
KASANEの目的は、今後の文化を担っていく若手作家に対し、作品の発信や販売の“出口”をつくることです。長い年月を経て培われてきた技術、そこに込められた思いや意味を大切にしながら、それらが普段の生活の中にある当たり前のものとして、多くの人のもとに還っていくには―。このような切り口から伝統工芸品を捉え直し、手に取る人の日常に笑顔を増やす商品の提案を進めています。


＜Bringing tradition back to everyday life＞
Our goal is for KASANE to serve as a gateway for young artists to advertise and sell their creations. We value the skills these artists have spent years to develop and their dedication to their craft, and we want to bring tradition back into our eve-ryday lives. Our products are based on this philosophy of rethinking tradition to bring joy to the lives of our customers.
